Tova Laiter Bio

 

 

Hollywood Film and TV Producer;

Laiter moved to Los Angeles in 1972, embarking on her Film career, after producing commercials for N. Lee Lacy Co in New York where she also took film production courses in NYU.  She previously received a BA in Art History & Philosophy from Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

 

Laiter’s introduction to Hollywood happened on the set of GODFATHER 2, where she got first hand experience working with movie giants such as Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Robert Duval, Diane Keaton and James Caan.

 

Having kickstarted with such a magnum opus of an opportunity, she soon became a part of the first wave of women becoming executives in Hollywood.  First as the West Coast Editor/ Hollywood liaison for Dell publishing empire, securing manuscripts and novelization rights of movie scripts including CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND by Steven Spielberg.

 

The success of the movie tie-in led to Laiter moving to Warner Brothers studio as VP,  Head of Story Department, supervising a staff of 37 employees. From there on it was as President of Freddie Field Production, supervising the production of GLORY for which Denzel Washington won an Oscar. She then became the Co-President of Imagine Entertainment- Ron Howard & Brian Grazer’s production company- where she was in charge of the development and production of big budget, A-list movies:  (see Filmography).

 

Her success at Imagine led to becoming the President of Production at Cinergi Pictures. Here, Laiter presided over the development and production of a slate of high profile Event Movies:  (see Filmography).

 

As producer and president of her Avida Entertainment, Tova Laiter has brought to life films at Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, MTV, Weinstein Company, Bravo, and NBC among others.  Her Varsity Blues movie is now in production as a Jeffrey Katzenberg's QUIBI series

 

In 2011, Laiter founded a popular ‘Screening and Q&A’ series for New York Film Academy’s LA branch, securing the participation of top Hollywood Directors, Stars, Producers and Top Executives (See Celebrity Q&A series).

 

In Feb. 2014, as a new blogger for Huffington Post/ Rita Wilson’s ‘FIFTY’ blog,  Tova has published articles that humorously observe the experiences of women over 49…

 

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Laiter has won numerous 1st place, ‘Best Speech’ ribbons at her Toastmaster club. She is an avid enthusiast of the arts and a world traveler who likes to explore new cultures, antiquities, architecture and museums.
